Etsy banners and design

I've started designing banners for Etsy shops and it's going better than I could have hoped. Guess that design degree is good for something.

Three banners finished, two more lined up to start. And best of all, fantastically happy customers. Bridget from the The Bead Closet was the sweetest. She loved her banner so much she gave me a testimonial without me even asking: "I swear she must have been inside my head because the design was exactly what I imagined, but just couldn't put into words. Somehow, Fern understood what I said, and ran with it!"

needles and pins

after a terrible macbook pro-less two weeks, my computer has been safely returned with a new logic board and casing. This poor blog has been sputtering without a proper laptop to keep it updated. No more. Today I am hard at work sewing 10 coin purses (that trading kind of got out of hand...) and hoping that the new shipment of frames gets here asap.

Made off with an amazing trade last night: one green flower hair pin for a set of 1930's monogram transfers. Cannot wait to get my hands on these.

From the Library of Congress collection of prints & posters (an archive that is not to be missed) comes this great old poster and a reminder that we should be making a dent in that stack of books by our bed. Still plenty of summer left to get through a couple good ones!

Today the Curious Fern opens its internet doors. As a lover of all things unique, strange, curious, wonderful and beautiful I spend a good deal of my time hunting down treasures. My store Fern's Curiosities is where I share some of these finds and creations. This blog is not one great advertisement for my store. It is a snapshot of my world and will boil down to discoveries and documentation, and a peek into the creative process.

It is partially for those interested in stumbling upon something new and wonderful, partially a way for me to keep track of the things I find and forget.

There is never a dull day for the curious Fern.
